#044 - Looking At Me Looking At You
Tsavo West, Kenya - 2023
I was on a ten-day expedition in Kenya, dedicated entirely to photographing elephants for an upcoming exhibition. My focus was unwavering as I passed by everything but elephants. However, just as I rounded a bend in the road, I was met with an unexpected sight: four lions perched tantalizingly close, high up on a bank next to the road.
Despite my commitment to capturing images of elephants, the majestic presence of these lions was impossible to ignore. I found myself unable to drive away, knowing that with patience, I might capture something truly special. Their elevated position on the bank and their proximity provided a unique opportunity for an intimate, eye-level shot.
