#048 - Craig & Tree

This image was captured during my second encounter with Craig, the legendary super tusker who roams the Amboseli ecosystem. On this occasion, Craig was in a far more open and expansive area compared to our first meeting, where his presence had been somewhat more elusive. The setting was perfect, with a brewing storm on the horizon that lent a dramatic and majestic quality to the sky.
 
During this shoot, I decided to diversify my approach. I aimed not only to capture close-up portraits of Craig but also to frame him within the grandeur of his natural habitat. The stormy sky provided an atmospheric backdrop, enhancing the sense of scale and majesty of this African and Kenyan icon. My goal was to convey both the intimate details of Craig’s powerful presence and the sweeping beauty of the Amboseli landscape he calls home.
